Notes from seats

Read the reservations as well.

These are from people who sat Open Desk or Studio Year. We keep the mild complaints. A page of unbroken praise is usually a brochure.

Payment Path Analytics made our decline bucket stop being a junk drawer. Ops and product now argue about issuer timeouts versus insufficient funds, which is at least an adult argument.

Krittin Phaiboon · payments lead, Bangkok

I took Cohort Maps after our wallet team copied a SaaS week-one activation chart. The Thai QR window worksheet was the piece I still have pinned. I wished the KYC module spent a full afternoon on local e-KYC vendors rather than a single case. The drop-off worksheet still paid for the Open Desk seat.

Materials are dense in a good way. Evening labs run long if someone brings a messy event dictionary — which is most of us. Would sit Studio Year if the critique slot stays monthly.

Anonymous client in consumer lending: we used Fraud Signal Interpretation as a bolt-on after Payment Path. It did not make us a fraud science team. It did stop us from treating every velocity spike as a story for the board.

Arisa’s board-narrative hour is uncomfortable. She crossed out half my first draft. That is why I sent two colleagues to Partner Table.

Neo-bank, Bangkok · false-positive holds

A retail digital bank sat Payment Path Analytics plus the Fraud Signal evening. Their hold rate on new devices looked “healthy” until the retry taxonomy showed the same customers looping through 3-D Secure. After the rewrite they published a limitation paragraph with the metric: holds fell, and they stopped counting a second challenge as a new risk event.

They did not become a machine-learning shop. They became harder to mislead with a single percentage.

The growth pod measured “activated” as first QR scan in seven days, a window imported from a US SaaS playbook. Cohort Maps rebuilt the window around PromptPay top-up cadence. First-month retained users looked worse on the new definition and more honest. The PM kept the old chart in an appendix so leadership could see the lie side by side.

Studio Year critique continued for three months after the module closed.
